October News

Fun fall activities you can enjoy with your dog:

1.     Sniff Walks: This is the perfect weather for long sniff walks, during which you can enjoy the fall foliage and crisp air.

2.     Pumpkin Patch Visit: Some pumpkin patches allow dogs, so check for pet-friendly farms where you can pick pumpkins together.

3.     Dog-Friendly Wineries: Visit a dog-friendly winery to enjoy a charcuterie picnic while your dog gets a special doggie snack.

4.     Hiking: Take advantage of the cooler weather and hike. Many trails have beautiful scenery during the fall. Don’t let your dog drink water that isn’t clean enough for you.

5.     Bonfire Evenings: Enjoy a bonfire night with your dog, complete with dog-safe treats and cozy blankets if you have a safe outdoor space.

6.     Play in Leaves: Rake up some leaves and let your dog jump in and play - it's an excellent way for both of you to enjoy the season!

7.     Costume Parade: With Halloween approaching, dress up your dog in a fun costume and participate in local costume parades or competitions. Most importantly, send your dog’s breeder a photo!

Enjoy the season!

Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dog Treats

Easy treats to make for your favorite dog.

Ingredients

·         2 1/2 cups coconut flour

·         2 large eggs

·         1/2 cup canned pumpkin (not pie mix)

·         2 tbsp peanut butter Avoid any peanut butter that contains  the sweetener Xylitol

·         1/2 tsp salt

·         1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

·         Preheat the oven to 350 F.

·         In a large bowl, combine eggs, cinnamon, pumpkin, flour, salt and peanut butter. When first mixed, this mixture will become stiff, dry, and crumbly quickly.

·         Add a little bit of water to help moisten the ingredients, then you can work and knead the dough. Only add a tablespoon or so as you go. You want the dough to be dry and have a thick consistency.

·         Form balls and smoosh with a fork - dogs aren’t fussy about shape. Place them on a greased baking sheet. You don’t need to separate them a ton; they don’t rise much.

·         Bake for about 35 minutes or until stiff. Serve!

Store in an airtight container or the freezer.
